Cordyline indivisa

Commonly known as the Broadleaf cabbage tree, this is a monocot tree endemic to New Zealand. Looks very similar to the Cordyline australis, this tends to grow to a much smaller height than Cordyline, and has the distinctive feature of branching out from ground level. This feature is much more visible when the tree is fully mature.

Commonly known as the Cabbage tree, it is highly distinctive with its wide spread branching, and monocot  leaf clusters. Its highly dense trunk can be used for food, and was for many years by the Maori, who called it Te Kouka. As a form the tree provides a alternative form to the average New Zealand tree, and will grow all throughout New Zealand. Can be grown in the Northern hemisphere, and is found commonly as an ornamental tree in England.
